Simply Pretty!

Simply pretty or simply not? Ladies…have you every done this big oops? Your straightening your hair…mind you it’s kinda on the shorter side. Then within SECONDS the straightening iron falls OUCHHHH. This is the 2nd time I’ve done this to myself…2nd time I have to walk around with a burn that some people think is a hickey like you would get when you were a teenager. So today my question to you is….has anyone else been as lucky as me to have something simply no pretty visable for everyone eyes to see?

When “Aunt Flow” comes to visit when it’s a unexpected visit!

Ladies here is something we don’t normally talk about we can call it many things…”Aunt Flow”, time of the month, the curse, period…I could go on and on with names. Okay what started me to think about writing about such a taboo topic is that my time of the month came unexpected today. “Aunt Flow” should of visited me about 5 days earlier. Maybe due to stress that she did come on time. I have many stressers in my life at the moment, from having an important can not miss appointment with an important person which I have tomorrow.. That is always a huge stresser and normal day stressers and some are not normal ones. But we won’t get in to my life history today. So I thought I write about ladies and their periods…what happens if it lands on your wedding day? When you are wearing the WHITE dress of your dreams! What if “Aunt Flow” was suppose to visit you after the date of your wedding…and she comes during…OH NO! Your saying your vows and all of a sudden…BAMN you know that “Aunt Flow” just knocked on your door. Stay calm and when you walk down the alise as husband and wife and when you see your wedding planner grab her….fill her in..and hopefully you have a get Bride emergency kit on hand…but if you hired Megan from Jeanil Wedding & Events you know all will be okay. When working with JeanilW&E’s we always have that something you might need in our Bride Emergency Kit. From tampons to pads…clear nail polish to sewing needles and thread..to Tide sticks…and TUMS…we have all you need for an unexpected situation. So as I end my blog for today…which was inspired by my unexpected visit from “Aunt Flow” I hope you know that when hiring Jeanil Wedding & Events we are prepared for any unexpected situation…and we’ll stop “Aunt Flow” from ruining the one day you’ll be wearing all white and when you also prayed that “Aunt Flow” would of been so kind to wait on making her monthly visit.

Fake Cakes: Cake Pops Made from Mini Donuts

It looks like a cake pop, it smells like a cake pop and it tastes amazing – but don’t be fooled dear readers; it’s a fake. Underneath that pretty shell of chocolate and sprinkles is a mini donut

These fake cakes, as I call them, are not only just as adorable as cake pops – they take only a fraction of the time to make!

The idea to use mini donuts instead of baking my own cake pops came to me while I was driving home from Christmas shopping. I’ve always loved the idea of cake pops as DIY wedding favors, but after making brownie pops and realizing how time consuming they are, I had no desire to attempt a DIY on cake pop favors.  I figure that brides are frazzled enough without having to add the stress of homemade cake pops.

Instead of making a beeline for the drive-thru, I headed straight home and Googled mini donuts + cake pops; I quickly realized that I am not the only one who has thought of this ingenious idea. But that didn’t stop me. A few days later  I bought a 40-pack of mini donuts, some cake pop supplies, and I got down to business.

Here’s how I made my first (but not last) batch of Fake Cakes or Cake Pops for Cheaters:

You will need:

  • Mini Donuts (I used chocolate glazed and plain. The plain ones were easier to work with because they are denser and the lollipop stick stays in place better. The chocolate ones are REALLY delicious though.)
  • wafers for melting
  • sprinkles
  • lollipop sticks

Ta-Da!! Fake Pops..Cake Pops…call it what you will…YUMMY POPS!
